White Mountain Toolworks has available traditional, finely handcrafted wooden hand planes.
These wooden hand planes range in size from 10 inches and 22 inches in
length, and are formed
with a sculptured
shape for ease of use and better control. The body of these wooden planes
are handcrafted from European Beech, with the sole and strike plate of the planes
of
Goncavo Alves.
This wood
is a dense, tight grained wood which provides a durable surface for the wooden plane sole.
White Mountain Toolworks currently has the following wooden hand plane
models available:

Our hand planes each have a solid
beech body, the sole and strike plate of tropical hardwood.
The smoothing plane can be ordered with a cutting angle ranging from 45
degrees to 55 degrees. The higher angle is more appropriate for dense hardwoods, highly
figured woods, and scraping. The lower angle bed is better suited for mild hardwoods and
general hand planing. Wooden planes include the White Mountain Toolworks maker's mark engraved
on a brass plate. The wooden plane cutting iron and cap
iron assembly are handcrafted and engineered by Hock Tools and are both extra thick and correctly sized for wooden bodied hand planes.
